This is one of the first paintings I've ever used oil sticks on, and experimented with some new techniques. 

Here's the accompanying poem:

“You are safe
and it’s okay to be seen

It didn’t always feel that way
so you wrapped yourself up
in your shame

Now, you can shed
your protective layers
and move forward
boldly into the unknown

so that you may
truly be seen”

This painting was featured in Laura Mitsu's debut solo exhibition "Poetic Abstraction" in April-May 2024 in San Francisco, CA.
