“Remnants #1”
Acrylic on Birchwood board
12 x 9 x 2-3 in
The "Remnants" Series is a collection of 9 works made by collecting dried acrylic paint scraps from my paint palette and mounting them onto birchwood boards in an organic and unplanned way.
What started out as something fun and interesting to do in between my paintings drying in the studio, turned into a series that I deeply connected with. It took hours upon hours to create each one and each is completely unique in its colors and forms.
This series also deeply resonated with people who came to the solo exhibition, and 7 out of the 9 in the series have been collected.
Here's the accompanying poem:
“We are a culmination
of all our past experiences
We pick up the pieces
and carry them with us
But we can choose
what to carry
So if it's heavy
Let it go.”
This work of art was featured in Laura Mitsu's debut solo exhibition "Poetic Abstraction" in April-May 2024 in San Francisco, CA.
