"Hanami" is the custom of observing and appreciating the cherry blossom season in Japan. When all the cherry blossom trees in Japan bloom into a beautiful sprawling pink layer across the country, there are festivals celebrating this coming of spring, and people take the time to go and sit under the trees, and enjoy this fleeting moment of beauty.

Being of Japanese descent, it is a dream of mine to experience Hanami in Japan. 

In this painting, I capture and celebrate the fleeting beauty of the Hanami season and the movement of the petals as they float down from the tree, representing how quickly this beautiful season passes.
